About Alpenglow Cockers

Boutique American Cocker Spaniels bred with purpose: merry, beautiful, and beloved.

Alpenglow Cockers is our small family breeding program in Utah. We are building it slowly and carefully, with the goal of raising beautiful, healthy American Cocker Spaniels who are just as wonderful to live with as they are to look at.

Every pairing is chosen with temperament, health, structure, pedigree, breed type, and long-term soundness in mind.

Meet the breeder

Hi, I’m Katherine.

My love for American Cocker Spaniels started in 2014, when I rescued my first Cocker, Henry. He was the dog who made me fall completely in love with the breed: their sweetness, their merry personalities, their soft expressions, and the way they want to be part of everything you do.

Henry lived to be 14, and after he passed, I began looking for another Cocker. That search eventually led me deeper into the breed: studying pedigrees and health, attending dog shows, learning from other Cocker people, and becoming involved in the wider dog community.

Our dogs are raised in our family home with my husband, daughter, and mother. They are loved, handled, trained, and included in everyday life. Future puppies will be raised the same way: here in our home, with our family, from the very beginning.

What guides Alpenglow

The whole Cocker comes first.

Pretty markings and beautiful coats are easy to notice, but they are never the whole plan.

At Alpenglow, we care first about health, temperament, soundness, breed type, and a Cocker who is wonderful to live with.

Correct American Cocker Spaniel type is important to us: soft expression, balanced structure, merry temperament, and movement that reflects the breed’s purpose.

Our ideal Cocker is affectionate, confident, adaptable, trainable, and deeply connected to their people. A dog can be beautiful in the ring and still be the kind of companion you love living with every day.

Club, show & sport involvement

Connected to the breed community.

Preservation breeding is not something we believe should happen in isolation. It depends on learning, mentorship, breed education, and staying connected to people who care about the future of American Cocker Spaniels.

  • Member of the American Spaniel Club, the national parent club for Cocker Spaniels
  • Member of the Cocker Spaniel Club of Orange County
  • Member of Bonneville Basin Kennel Association, our local all-breed club

We participate in conformation and also compete in obedience and agility. We believe American Cockers should be beautiful, merry, trainable, and enjoyable to live with, not just nice to look at.

Health and puppy raising

Raised with care from the very beginning.

Before being bred, Alpenglow dogs must complete appropriate health testing, including hip evaluation through OFA or PennHIP, current eye exams through a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, and DNA testing for conditions relevant to American Cocker Spaniels.

Future puppies will be raised in our family home, not in an outdoor kennel. They will receive daily care, gentle handling, grooming foundations, age-appropriate enrichment, and exposure to normal family life with multiple generations involved in their care.

Puppy placement is based on temperament, structure, buyer goals, lifestyle, and fit. Families are welcome to share preferences, but the goal is always the right match for each puppy and each home.

Puppy price and placement

Companion puppies

$3,500

Our expected price for a companion Alpenglow Cocker puppy is $3,500. This reflects the planning, health testing, veterinary care, supplies, time, and ongoing breeder support that go into raising a carefully bred litter.

Most companion puppies are placed on limited AKC registration and are not sold for breeding. Final pricing, reservation fees, and contract details will always be explained clearly before anyone commits to a puppy.

Co-ownership opportunities

For the right home

As our program grows, we may occasionally place select show or breeding prospects in carefully chosen co-owner homes.

This is not a large-scale guardian-home setup. It is a limited, relationship-based opportunity for the right family to raise and love a well-bred Alpenglow Cocker as their own while also supporting the future of our program and the breed.

For the right home, co-ownership may be a wonderful way to welcome an exceptional puppy at a reduced cost, with breeder guidance and clear expectations in writing.

Puppy matching

Not first-come, first-served.

Alpenglow puppies are not placed by order of inquiry, color preference, or who asks first.

We consider each puppy’s temperament, structure, confidence, grooming needs, household fit, and the goals of each family before making placement decisions.

Color and sex preferences are welcome, but the right match comes first.

Interested in a future Alpenglow puppy?

If you are interested in future Alpenglow updates, puppy plans, or a possible co-ownership opportunity, the first step is to join the interest list.

This is not a puppy application and does not guarantee puppy placement. It simply lets us know you would like updates and may want to be considered in the future.

When timing is closer, serious homes may be invited to complete a full puppy application.
